Elise De Vliegher
About
Elise De Vliegher was born on May 10, 1974, in Sint-Gillis-Waas (Belgium). She grew up in Stekene and began taking speech and ballet lessons at the Sint-Niklaas Municipal Academy at the age of eight.
She graduated from the Higher Institute of Dance in Lier in 1995. Since then, she has been active in theater and television. She began her career with KJT in Antwerp; subsequently, she appeared in productions by KNS, Raamtheater, De Maan, Het Paleis, ETT, Villanella, Croissant Blue, Studio 100, Music Hall, Kopergietery, and the Kip met Kop theater troupe.
She has appeared as a guest actor in the television series Aspe, Wittekerke, Flikken, W817, Mega Mindy, Cordon, and Spoed. Elise also regularly does voice-over work for radio commercials.
In addition to acting, she sings with the group Alma de Lágrimas; she also collaborates with guitarists Philip Duerinck and Carl Op De Beeck in the Grupo Pimentón collective, performing Latin American music. She studied flamenco in Brussels with Antonio Martínez and participated in workshops in Spain. For ten years, she danced and sang with the Gent-based flamenco theater troupe La Guardia Flamenca.
She currently performs in the production *Vluchtwegen* by the Kip met Kop theater troupe alongside actor Wim Van de Velde.
Since 2010, she has been teaching dance at d’Academie Podium in Sint-Niklaas (Stekene branch). At the CVO in Antwerp, she teaches expression and storytelling techniques to prospective guides. At De Werkschop (Mortsel Cultural Center), she has produced numerous theater productions with children; she also led workshops at Edered, a theater gathering that brings together children from various European countries. For Kras in Borgerhout, she produced two theater productions titled *Kattekwaad* and *Het Geheime Pad*.
In 2011 and 2013, she led contemporary dance workshops for CDA in Kocaeli and Trabzon, Turkey.
Elise is passionate about flamenco and the fusion of song, dance, and acting. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, preferably on foot or by bicycle. She has lived in Sint-Niklaas since 2007.
