About the Workshop

The destiny of the body is to perceive, relate to context and act. Action is its key word in real life and on the stage. But the body also thinks: thinking is not confined to the brain. The brain is not the boss but the coordinator of a diffused intelligence that thrives on awareness of each part and on a lively web of continuous communication and interaction between its parts.

Landscapes, rhythms and personal/traditional stories will be the starting points to trigger imagination, observation and action. These sources will give us inspiration, through guided exercises and improvisations, and lead us to shape actions that have dramatic relevance and clarity. We will try and identify the roots of these actions and their possible developments through changes in the qualities of movement. The same root can in fact lead to different directions and outcomes.

Then, composition of actions coming from different sources and layers will help us experience the body as a dramaturgical crossoroads where many threads and discourses meet and hybridize each other, leaving us open to unexpected possibilities
