About the Workshop

Through the creative drama method, this workshop examines the historical origins of intellectual and artistic rights, and how the rules protecting artists are accepted by law. By tracing the evolution of the legal regulations about artistic works, it seeks to answer the question: Who wrote these laws?

Throughout the process, participants will have the opportunity to embody legal concepts such as “intellectual property” and “work of art” through their own physical and creative expressions. Guided by questions such as: When is a work worthy of protection? Can a teacher use someone else’s book in education? What must be added to a song for it to become a new work of art? Where do we draw the line on plagiarism? – bringing the strict codes of law to life through the power of creative drama. The workshop invites participants to explore the protection of art in law, through art itself.
